Zafra ワイン食堂 (Wine Shokudo) is a wine-centered restaurant, where refined Italian and French dishes are offered, in a casual setting and at an accessible price.
The word “食堂” (shokudo) was chosen over “bistro” or “restaurant” because, beyond affordability and a relaxed atmosphere, shokudo conveys a sense of “habit” — a natural routine, something you return to as a matter of course. Zafra aims to make drinking well and eating well an everyday habit whenever the mood strikes, rather than a privilege saved only for special occasions. We aspire to become a true “定番” in Kobe — the kind of place where the thought naturally arises: “Let’s go to Zafra for a glass of wine!”
Naturally, compared to traditional restaurants, Zafra’s menu is purposely restrained. Yet that very restraint grants us the luxury of absolute focus on seasonal ingredient sourcing, flexible menu design and quality safeguarding.
Advocate of slow food philosophy, we let the ingredients speak for themselves through the appropriate cooking methods in the simplest way. Thanks to our own wine reserve, Zafra offers only fine wines in their drink window and provides original food and wine pairing adventures, all at a competitive price.
